the first of two great little packages including the original track plus remixes from downtime, defpoint, and kamoni was released on mek! music on august 23rd through beatport and itunes and napster (and others). i hear it's selling like hot cakes! stay tuned for a second release coming soon! - LULLABY IS RELEASED ON STIR :::

the guys from black van records just got a residence at bogaloo in brooklyn. the party is called machine punk. i got to play there last thursday (it was a pretty last minute thing, so sorry to those i didn't mention anything!) and might be playing there often so keep checking back here! - THIS TIME, BELIEVE THE HYPE ::: 
beirut is one of the hottest bands i've heard in a long, long time. i went to see them about a month ago at joe's pub and was really enchanted with their soulful and unpretentious music, a downpour of beauty falling from the edge of the horns, the ringing of the strings and the instruments' bodies' inevitable resonance. sticky stuff! i went to see them again last week at the mccarren park's pool parties in williamsburg. my friends complained about the sound not being very good, but i didn't mind. if you have a chance, don't miss them... - OH FRIEND, I'VE MISSED YOU DEARLY ::: after many months of typing away at some stupid html editor or clicking and dragging and cutting in cubase and reaktor, i've once again grabbed my old pal have-been-dusty-for-a-while, my dear old viola ...i'll be playing soon with the philharmonic orchestra of the americas at the stowe summer music festival in vermont, then off to a closing concert in nyc at the end of august. - NEW MUSIC FROM MOGOLLÓN-FM ::: there are many, many new mixes to check out on mogollón's site (once you're in, click on "mogollón-fm") they are getting better and greater. be on the look out for mixes from monika enterprise and from trevor jackson! - ADA, WE LOVE YOU!!! WON'T U BECOME OUR PRESIDENT?!! :::

...and made it a night to remember for us passing through another new york summer (they played at cielo last week, while they were on a small tour through the u.s.) i felt nostalgic like i've only felt on so few special nights ...my first cure show, my first and only cocteau twins they were getting close, i think! i was impressed with ada playing pretty much all new material, all of it so fresh and cutting edge, yet as always so personal and soulful. then, dominik was just fussy and strong and powerful and cathartic, yet nothing felt forced. oh, so much fun all at once should be prohibited! kudos to robots for putting together such great parties. - |
